Comfort Respect Support
Learning through movement and sensation are non-verbal languages many children and teenagers with PMLD priorities. A Feldenkrais approach appreciates this non-verbal wisdom and supports the brain and body to work more in harmony. When more connections are available movements become easier, interacting with people and the world is enjoyable and has more meaning.
Touch as communication
I use a supportive hands-on approach to gently guide the child’s movement, giving them opportunities to learn at their own rate, finding ways to move more independently and comfortably.
For children and teenagers with PMLD this through-the-body way can be used to support
- Pain management
- Postural care
- Wheelchair supports
- Physio routines
My way of working supports the child or teenager’s ability to learn, whether this is their gentle and knowing eye movements and subtle body language or larger developmental movements such as rolling, sitting and crawling.
Feldenkrais is fantastic for:
- Global Development Delay
- Undiagnosed learning disabilities
- Complex learning difficulties
- Developmental delay
I work with your child’s bouncing movements, their guiding hands, their bubbling vocalisations.
I have experience and training with children with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and understand that many children will have complex medical conditions and routines.
